What is Screen-Printing “Set-Up”?
Screen-Printing “set-up” is the process of taking your logo or design and producing a series of silk-screens in frames (one per color) to allow individual colors to be applied to your item. This set-up fee, sometimes called a “screen charge,” is determined by the number of colors in your design. At Poloworks, this fee is $30 per color.
Some photographic-type designs require additional set-up. These “4-color Process” designs, like photographs, are made up of combinations of only Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black. So in order to create screens for these designs, we, or you, must first make negatives of your design (called “film separations”) which segregate your design into gradations of these four colors. The actual silk screens are then made from the films.
At Poloworks, all costs for printing a design on your item are included in the quoted price.
How do I Get my Design Screen-Printed?
- Just send us camera-ready artwork of your design, either in color or B&W (as long as you designate what color each part of your design should be). If you have specific PMS colors (Pantone Matching System) in your design that you need us to match, please so indicate.
- Email a file of your design (any EPS, GIF, JPEG, or PDF) to Rick at email@example.com.
- We’ll email you a quote and a virtual image of how your printed apparel will appear. As soon as you give us the go-ahead, we’ll create the screens and go to print.
- If you have any questions, please contact us below.
